Warner Home Video will release Superman: Doomsday on September 18th. Adapted from the Death and Return of Superman comic book story arc that killed off the iconic DC comics hero in the 1990s, the feature film adaptation will include the featurettes The Clash of the Juggernauts, “The Artists Playground: From Art to Sound Design in Superman Doomsday” (producer Bruce Timm and his creative team of writers, animators and designers take us on an exciting journey of character evolution), a sneak peek at Justice League: The New Frontier and Defeat Doomsday: Battle Challenge. Retail price will be around $19.98.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release Donnie Brasco: The Extended Cut on May 8th. The true story of FBI undercover agent Joe Pistone, starring Johnny Depp and Al Pacino, returns in this new edition featuring more than 20 minutes of additional footage reintegrated back into the film. The DVD includes a 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1, an audio commentary track and featurette. Retail will be $19.95.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will debut Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan on DVD March 6 without any changes to the big screen version, as lawsuits seeking to have the film altered for disc have been defeated, reports Variety. The disc will come with deleted scenes and scenes from Borat’s visits to the Toronto International Film Festival, Cannes and Comic Con. Borat has received Golden Globes nominations for comedy pic and for Cohen as actor.
Warner Home Video announced that it will release the Matrix franchise and all of the Harry Potter films on HD DVD in 2007. The company will also release an HD DVD version of its hit animated film Happy Feet this year. The new titles are among a full slate of releases for 2007, joining such films as Superman Returns in the high-definition format. Warner Home Video will continue to release a variety of the most successful titles from its library on HD-DVD Blu Ray.
World Wrestling Entertainment today unveiled its home entertainment release schedule for 2007. Twenty-five new titles are slated for release in 2007. Among the highlights is �Royal Rumble The Complete Anthology,� a 20-disc box set covering the first 20 Royal Rumble events, including 14 never before released on DVD. Additionally the schedule includes a profile DVD on one of the most popular professional wrestling factions of all time, Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen, plus a first ever WWE DVD release on the recent library acquisition of World Class Championship Wrestling, and an in-depth look back at the history of the Ladder Match. Additional profile DVDs about John Cena, Rey Mysterio�, and Stone Cold Steve Austin will cover their lives both inside and outside professional wrestling.
