Disney Announces TV Slate, Lost, Desperate Housewives

Disney wants to breathe some excitement into the TV-DVD business, which after several years of explosive growth is beginning to lose some of its luster. The studio is taking the unusual step of announcing all its upcoming marquee TV-DVD releases at once and packing into them a wealth of novel extras, from Spanish-language audio tracks to a virtual fashion show, extended and bonus episodes and unaired story lines. The highlight: Season 3 sets of top-rated shows Lost, Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy. Breaking tradition, each set gets a special name, similar to special editions of movies.

Heroes Season 1 Coming August 28

NBC’s Heroes comes to DVD and HD DVD when the entire first season of the hit series debuts in stores August 28 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The seven-disc DVD set has several bonus features, including five featurettes and more than 50 deleted scenes. The set also includes the extended, 73-minute cut of the pilot, from creator Tim Kring, which never aired on television. The DVD version carries a suggested retail price of $59.98.




Hart Sharp Video Releasing The Crow: Stairway to Heaven

Hart Sharp Video will be releasing The Crow: Stairway to Heaven - The Complete First Season on July 24. This television series, spun off from The Crow movie franchise, follows a dead, turned living, musician as he attempts to fight the forces of evil. The release will be presented as a four disc set with a runtime of 946 minutes and a total of 22 episodes. Special features are said to include: an audio commentary by star Mark Dacascos and executive producer Bryce Zabel, behind-the-scenes footage and a photo gallery.


Buena Vista Announces Bridge to Terabithia

Buena Vista Home Entertainment has officially announced Bridge to Terabithia which stars AnnaSophia Robb and Zooey Deschanel. The film will be available to own on June 19, and should retail at around $29.99. The film will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include an audio commentary with audio director Gabor Csupo, writer Jeff Stockwell and producer Hal Lieberman, a second commentary with the film’s stars Josh Hutcherson and AnnaSophia Robb with producer Lauren Levine, a Behind the Book: The Themes of Bridge to Terabithia featurette, a Digital Imagination: Bringing Terabithia to Life featurette, and a “Keep Your Mind Wide Open” Music Video Performed by AnnaSophia Robb.


Shooter Coming In June With Extras

Paramount Home Entertainment will release the Mark Wahlberg thriller Shooter on June 26th. The Mark Wahlberg thriller arrives with a 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 & 2.0 tracks. Supplements will include a feature-length audio commentary with director Antoine Fuqua, a selection off deleted scenes, “Survival of the Fittest: The Making of Shooter” and “Independence Hall” featurettes, and trailers. Retail will be $29.99.
